    Basic and clinical lymphology, lymphoedema research and medical ignorance
    Marlys Witte, MD is Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona and attending physician at University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. With her late husband Charles, she established the University of Arizona Lymphology Laboratories in 1969 and soon after the Comprehensive Lymphedema-Angiodysplasia Diagnostic and Treatment Centre at the Arizona Health Sciences Centre/HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson. She is past President and current Secretary General of the ISL as well as serving as Editor of Lymphology. She also directs the NIH-sponsored Student Research Programs and the curriculum on Medical Ignorance at the University of Arizona. Her research spans the translational spectrum of lymphology from molecules to man.

Gold medals and Life Time achievement Awards from Many Dermatology, Wound healing and Lymphoedema Societies. Gold Medal of Brasilian Academy of Medicine, Amico Di Venuezuela, Distinguished Service Award of International League of Dermatological Societies.     Early career focused on Blood supply and Lymphatic drainage of the skin and included Presidency of World congresses in the field of microcirculation. Later career mainly focuses on Public Health relevant to Dermatology, Wound Healing, Lymphoedema and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Founder of Community dermatology skincare for all with a focus on Africa, India and China.
