What a conference! Now that the exhibition stalls have packed up and the delegates have returned home, I have time to reflect on our shared experience of the 2016 Asia Pacific Lymphology Conference. Three years of preparation produced a magnificent conference which drew 356 delegates, 69 exhibitor registrants manning 29 trade booths, 11 sponsors and 66 public day participants. The international perspective and delegates brought by the ILF worked perfectly alongside the solid history of an ALA conference. The positive and enthusiastic feedback that I have received from many who participated has made me feel happy and satisfied that our hard work was worth every bit. The scientific and knowledge content, the fantastic social events, the networking opportunities, and the new product information from the exhibitors were all commented on positively.
The Organising Committee and the Scientific Committee would like to thank all those who supported our conference. We particularly want to thank our major sponsors, session sponsors and supporters, without whom we could not have a conference. Our thanks also to the exhibitors who chose to be present – we know it’s a long journey from anywhere to Darwin!
We also wish to thank our keynote and invited speakers who have taken time out of their busy lives to spread their wisdom, the workshop, oral and poster presenters who have enriched our knowledge by their sharing, our conference company ICMS Australasia who have been efficient and supportive, and last of all our delegates who turned out in more than expected numbers because they wanted to improve the way in which they assist people with lymphatic dysfunction.
I hope we all meet again at future ILF and ALA conferences.
